A comeback Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after March of 2023.

The win also signifies he has won 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

The opponent saved four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
