The Baldur's Gate 3 Creators Announce a Latest Divinity, Declaring it Their Most Ambitious RPG to Date

The buzz around the recent awards show has been intense, particularly after host Geoff Keighley posted a puzzling photo of a desert monolith. The question has now been solved. Larian Studios is developing a fresh Divinity game.

Titled simply Divinity, the game was presented with a audacious trailer that included intense imagery, from a burning man to scenes of revelry and the very unleashing of hell.

A Different Direction

For those anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. The studio warned that a third Original Sin game to its venerated RPGs is not currently in development.

However, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a next chapter of the core franchise. This phrasing suggests that the team is likely designing a faster-paced experience as opposed to another tactical title. At this moment, we can only guess, as only a cinematic trailer is available.

What Makes Divinity Special

The Divinity series is highly rated and it's fair to claim it sparked the recent resurgence of deep computer role-playing games. These games are known for intricate stories, branching plots, and deep class systems—qualities that subsequently found massive success in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its universe is familiar fare, what truly sets Divinity apart is the immense freedom given to the player.

Where many modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is full of unique possibilities you can achieve by choosing a distinct build with a personal story.

The series is also famously flexible, letting players to experiment both in story and combat. Virtually all objectives can be completed in diverse methods, often in surprising fashion.

  • You might progress the story because you heeded something a dog told you.
  • Or, you could defeat a foe by using the world itself in a unorthodox way.

The Journey Continues

It is this design philosophy that have cemented the series to label games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as one of the best role-playing games in history. Now, the RPG community can get ready for more where that came from in this groundbreaking franchise.
